Putin told campaign criticism

President Vladimir Putin on Friday lashed out at critics of Russia's crushing victory in the Universiade world student games, mischievously suggesting they would be better off enjoying life by taking the sex drug Viagra.
The Russian team won six times more gold medals than any other nation at the biennial Universiade world student games that wrapped up Wednesday in Russia's Volga city of Kazan 12ax7.
Several editorials in Russia's sports and opposition media have however ridiculed the achievement, saying the medal haul was made possible by fielding elite professional athletes in the amateur competition.
"When we have such great victories, people start lamenting that something is not right," Putin told the medal winners at a reception outside Moscow.
"I'd like to advise them to play sport -- and if they have health problems then go to the doctor... Maybe taking Viagra would help. And life would work out. See its most beautiful side."
Putin's reference to the male impotence drug was characteristic of his frequent use of earthy language to mock critics.
Russia won an astonishing 155 gold medals at the 27th Universiade, with a team packed with Olympic champions and elite athletes personalized clothing labels.
It even won both the men's and women's competitions in rugby, not a sport where it is a known world beater.
No other nation could even touch Russia's dominance, with China coming second in the gold medal tally with 26 golds and Japan third with 24.
Russia's political leaders are keen to show the nation has retained its Soviet-era sporting dominance ahead of the Winter Olympics in the southern Russian resort of Sochi in 2014, despite a series of let-downs in recent years .

Rudy sand world champion

Now, even more than ever before, the upcoming world athletics championships in Moscow are riding on the broad shoulders of Usain Bolt .
Two days after track and field was rocked by the doping scandals involving American sprinter Tyson Gay and his Jamaican counterparts Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, the world titles received another double blow with the withdrawal of defending champions Yohan Blake and David Rudisha .
Blake - who succeeded Bolt as 100m world champ two years ago in Daegu after his celebrated countryman infamously false-started in the final - pulled out with a hamstring injury.
"Yohan has made vast improvement, although the injury sustained in April of this year has prevented him from attaining the necessary fitness levels that we have grown accustomed to seeing in his competition performances," said Blake's manager Cubie Seegobin cloud solution.
Blake will be joined on the sidelines by Kenyan middle distance king David Rudisha.
The 24-year-old missed last weeks national trials in Nairobi after twisting his knee in training last month.
"I am recovering well but unfortunately it is very slow. At this point in time I don't think I can recover in time for the world championships," said Rudisha, whose remarkable 800m world record in last year's London Olympic final was hailed by the great Sebastian Coe as the standout performance of the entire Games storage unit.
"Bolt was good, Rudisha was magnificent," said Coe, a two-time Olympic 1500m champion and the head of the London Games organising committee.
"That is quite a big call but it was the most extraordinary piece of running I have probably ever seen."
Even though Blake had not raced since April, his pedigree as the reigning world champion and the Olympic 100m and 200m silver medallist made him one of the few genuine challengers to Bolt's continued supremacy in Moscow.
The blue riband sprints had already been weakened by Gay's immediate withdrawal after testing positive to an unnamed substance Jewelry hong kong.
The American owned the three fastest 100m times of 2013.
Former world record holder Powell had not been selected to run the individual 100m sprint in Moscow, although he was in contention for a 4x100m relay berth before returning a positive test to the stimulant oxilofrine chenille embroidery patches.

Wallabies coach Dean rejection

Ewen McKenzie is set to pilot Australia through to the next Rugby World Cup with his appointment as new Wallabies coach expected to be made on Tuesday.

Robbie Deans is understood to have been axed with six months remaining on his contract, clearing the way for Queensland Reds coaching director McKenzie embroidery badges.

While the Australian Rugby Union remained tight-lipped on the matter following a meeting with Kiwi Deans, McKenzie is expected to be unveiled as his replacement.

He saw off a worthy challenge from Brumbies and World Cup-winning former Springboks coach Jake White, with public opinion heavily in favour of an Australian in the post.

The Queensland Rugby Union also had no comment but the Melbourne Rebels' appointment on Monday of Wallabies coaching co-ordinator Tony McGahan as their new head coach ahead of McKenzie indicated he had bigger plans.

ARU chief executive Bill Pulver said Deans' position wouldn't hinge on the result of the Wallabies' campaign against British and Irish Lions, however the manner of their third Test 41-16 capitulation appears to have forced their hand.

New Zealander Deans was Australia's first foreign-born coach and also the Wallabies' most capped coach wine school, overseeing 74 Tests in his five-and-a-half years in the post.

Since taking over in 2008 he led the Wallabies to 43 wins, 29 losses and two draws, for a winning percentage of 58 per cent.

Deans had a bad run with injuries and as a result he created depth by blooding a new generation of players.

However, the returns never quite materialised, particularly against New Zealand with his record a miserable three wins from 18 games and no Bledisloe Cups.

McKenzie, who played in Australia's triumphant 1991 World Cup side, served as an assistant under Test coaches Rod Macqueen and Eddie Jones.

The popular 48-year-old, who coached Queensland to the Super Rugby title in 2011, is expected to shore up the scrum and re-ignite the Wallabies attack.

The Reds play an expansive, entertaining style that appeals to fans disillusioned by the stuttering attack under Deans' reign.

That also means a likely return to Test rugby for Queensland playmaker Quade Cooper, rejected by Deans for the Lions' campaign after his public criticism of the Wallabies set-up last year.

The Wallabies' next Test match is against the All Blacks in Sydney on August 17 in the first match of The Rugby Championship Asian college of knowledge management.

Woman before removing

A woman removed the batteries from a smoke alarm in her home just hours before a fire broke out, claiming her life, a coroner has found Asian college of knowledge management.

Roselle Ramirez, 25, was unable to escape the fire that engulfed her Paraparaumu home in April 2011.

Ms Ramirez's two young children, who were at the time aged seven and five, along with her friend Leahmay Osik and her son and partner, survived the blaze.

In his findings, made public on Thursday, Coroner Ian Smith said the smoke alarm in Ms Ramirez's rented home was activated about 5.30pm on April 12, 2011.

Ms Ramirez checked for any sign of smoke, but none could be seen. The smoke alarm continued to beep, so she removed the batteries.

Some time around midnight, a fire broke out in the lounge, quickly engulfing the front of the house.

Most of the occupants were able to get out of the house, but Ms Ramirez and one of her children were found on a bedroom floor formation of company.

The child was able to be resuscitated and has made a full recovery, but Ms Ramirez's life could not be saved.

Mr Smith said the cause of the fire has not been able to be determined, but it was likely electrical.

He said Ms Ramirez's death was tragic and highlighted the importance of households having operational smoke alarms.

Recently released figures from the fire service show that more than a dozen people killed in avoidable house fires in the past year had no working smoke alarms in their homes.

In the past 12 months, 20 people died in avoidable blazes at home, with 80 per cent of them receiving no warning because smoke detectors were either not installed or not working.

你曾說,剪數縷楊柳風,織就一條細軟溫暖的絲巾,圍在我的項間;

你曾說,集數滴杏花雨,熬成一盒淡香盈面的胭脂紅,塗在我的臉上;

你曾說,攜數片彩雲朵,裁出一款阿娜多姿的旗袍,穿在我的身上;

你曾說,拈數瓣桃花蕊,編成一只豔麗小巧的發卡,戴在我的發間;
